The ocean is vast because it is fed by hundreds of rivers; and one should be as inclusive as the vast ocean which admits hundreds of rivers.

The School of Overseas Education of Sichuan University, formerly known as the Center of Chinese Teaching for Foreigners of Sichuan University, has been engaged in the recruitment of and professional education for international students in China since the mid-1980s. As a window and an important base for internationalization of Sichuan University, with 20 years of painstaking efforts, the School of Overseas Education has established a complete, scientific and characteristic curriculum system, a strict management system and a faculty team with experienced teachers. While offering Chinese language courses for over 2,000 international students each year, it has established joint education, teaching and research partnership with over 50 colleges and universities around the world. Furthermore, it actively promotes the establishment and development of overseas Confucius Institutes in tune with the internationalization strategy and the “Double First-Class initiative” (first-rate universities and disciplines) of Sichuan University. In a move to promote the international dissemination of Chinese language and culture, the School has made efforts to cultivate international students who could have a better understanding of China, contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative of China and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
