HSK is a standardized international language proficiency test in Chinese that focuses on the ability of candidates with Chinese as a non-first language to communicate in life, study and work.

I. Examination Structure

HSK consists of HSK Level 1, HSK Level 2, HSK Level 3, HSK Level 4, HSK Level 5 and HSK Level 6.

Presently, HSK has become a permit for studying in China, a prerequisite for applying scholarship to study in China as well as an important tool for academic evaluation by colleges and universities; it is accepted by government departments and multinational companies in an increasing number of countries as an important basis for employee recruitment, salary increase and promotion. The HSK score is an authoritative proof of Chinese language proficiency. Candidates can inquire about the score by logging onto the Chinese Language Testing Service website one month after the test, and contact the Test Center to request the HSK Score Report issued by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) within one month upon announcement of the results.
